70 years, in route the future
Benedict Labre House is highlighting 70 years of welcomig and supporting people experiencing homelessness. The "70 Years, in route to the future" charity event will shed light on the hard work of our volunteers and staff over the decades, while raising funds for our new home. In fact, in addition to our current services and programs, a new housing program is being added to our offerings. There will be 36 units that will be accessible to address chronic homelessness in the southwest of Montreal. A project that costs more than $14M. We still have more than $1.5M to raise in 2022-2023.
Benedict Labre House recognizes 70 years of supporting the most vulnerable population in the South West of Montreal. Over the years, our programs have been able to adjust to the needs of the community. In 1952, Tony Walsh launched the Benedict Labre House as a rest stop and soup kitchen. Today, in addition to being a day center that offers 2 (two) meals a day, a pre-employability program, a shower and clothing, it has developed an overdose and addiction prevention program. Several social workers on site guide the visitors to ensure their well-being. In 70 years, the Benedict Labre House has grown its programs and services.
On May 12, 2022, join us! Together, we can make these essential services available to all Montrealers in an inclusive manner.
